Nurturing the Future: Empowering Youth Through Training and Community Support
At AGNI Rural Welfare Society, we have been dedicated to empowering the youth of South 24 Parganas District since our inception. Our journey began with a two-day weekly training program at the Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya playground, focusing on drills, physical training, sports, games, obstacle management, disaster management, civil defense, and preparation for defense-related examinations, including the NDA, IMA, and OTA. Our primary goal is to support students from secondary and higher secondary schools within the Baruipur subdivision, helping them develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful future.
Recognizing the need for specialized guidance, we initiated a National Defense Academy (NDA) Inspiration Training program. This program is tailored to prepare students for UPSC examinations, focusing on the Army, Navy, and Air Force. We are proud to be the only organization in the region offering this essential service, addressing a significant gap identified in an Indian Army survey.
Established on September 22, 2008, AGNI Rural Welfare Society has always aimed to uplift the underprivileged. In 2009, when Cyclone Aila devastated the Sundarbans, our team, along with our students, organized and delivered critical relief materials to those affected. This experience reinforced our commitment to disaster management and preparedness, ensuring that we can respond effectively to future emergencies.
Beyond disaster relief, we have observed that many young people in our community face challenges from social and cultural issues, leading to physical and mental health problems. To combat this, we provide comprehensive training programs designed to foster physical fitness, mental resilience, and social responsibility.
Our surveys in South 24 Parganas revealed that many children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, suffer from neglect and lack of proper nutrition, hindering their mental and physical development. In response, we organized a special training camp at Sonarpur College, offering a wide range of activities such as drills, obstacle courses, pipe band practice, self-defense, yoga, and civil defense. These activities aim to inspire students to set goals and work towards a brighter future.
We understand that many families in our region cannot afford to send their children to camps or training programs outside the area. To address this, we organize a 10-day annual camp during school holidays, ensuring that students can participate without disrupting their studies. These camps provide a unique opportunity for students to grow and learn in a supportive environment.
At AGNI Rural Welfare Society, we are committed to nurturing the next generation, helping them to become healthy, strong, and socially responsible individuals. Through our programs, we strive to create a brighter future for the youth of South 24 Parganas.
